How do Invisalign Aligners Work?

Invisalign® aligners put subtle pressure on certain teeth in order to effectively realign them. Unlike traditional braces, only certain teeth are targeted during each phase of treatment. Each aligner is designed in such a way that it only focuses on straightening the necessary teeth.

How Will I Know if I am a Suitable Candidate for Invisalign?

Certain orthodontic issues are best corrected with traditional braces, and the presence of these conditions may not be apparent until after x-rays and molds of your teeth are taken.

What are the Aligners Made From?

The aligners are made from a clear, medical-grade thermoplastic material that is solid enough to withstand wear, yet flexible enough to move with your teeth. These aligners are safe to wear, as they do not contain any bisphenol-A.

What Are Attachments?

Depending on the exact treatment required, your aligners may need to grip your teeth more securely. In these instances, aligners with special bumps or ridges may be used. A piece of composite enamel will be placed on your teeth that will attach to the bumps or ridges on your aligners. The combination of grooved aligners and a composite enamel tooth fixture together make an attachment.

Will Wearing Invisalign be Uncomfortable?

Some mild discomfort may be noticed, especially when you switch to a new set of aligners. This is normal and is simply a sign that the aligners are working. Aside from some mild soreness from time to time, you should not experience any other discomfort.

How do I Care for my Aligners?

You should clean your aligners at least once a day with a toothbrush and toothpaste, and then rinse them in warm water.

What Happens if I Lose or Break one of My Aligners?

If you lose or break your aligner, please contact our office immediately so that your treatment is not interrupted. We can get a replacement aligner for you in only a few days.
