Correcting the alignment of your teeth or improving your smile is easy with braces. The residents of Smyrna, Vinings and the surrounding communities in Atlanta, Georgia can now come to Smile Envy Dental Group for many types of braces.
What Are Braces?
Braces consist of brackets that are bonded to the teeth and connected to each other using a thin metal wire. Every four to six weeks Dr. Lofters will adjust the brackets to help move your teeth into a healthy position. Brackets are made from stainless steel or ceramic materials. The metal wire is held in place with rubber elastics that come in a variety of colors.

Benefits of Braces
During the childhood growth spurt and as we age, our teeth can shift around, making it difficult to eat or speak. Braces are a relatively easy way to correct these problems. With braces, it is possible to close gaps in the teeth, create a straighter smile and bring protruding teeth back into alignment. Braces can also help ease over and under bites. After braces treatment, patients find their teeth are easier to clean and their overall oral health has improved. Your teeth will be straighter and you will enjoy a more comfortable and confident smile.
What Is the Procedure for Braces?
Braces are attached to the teeth and connected by a wire. Dr. Lofters will adjust the braces regularly, usually once a month. Most patients have braces anywhere from 12 to 44 months.
Recovery from Braces
While getting braces will not hurt, expect soreness in your mouth and teeth for about a week. You will quickly adapt to the feeling of having braces. If you experience any prolonged pain beyond the initial soreness, let Dr. Lofters know immediately.
While wearing braces, patients should avoid very sticky foods like gum, caramel or taffy. Also, very hard foods like popcorn, raw carrots, and whole apples can damage the wire or break a bracket off of your tooth.
How Much Do Braces Cost?
The cost of braces will vary based on your needs and the type of braces you select. Braces may be covered by your dental insurance. We will work with you to determine your benefits coverage and what you may owe for your treatment. Smile Envy Dental Group offers financing through CareCredit® as well as other payment options.
Are Braces Right for Me?
If you are looking to restore your smile, improve the function of your teeth, or correct dental issues, braces may be right for you. Dr. Lofters recommends braces for patients over the age of seven.
